The General page, switch by switch
The General page gathers the most-used switches. Item by item (layout varies slightly between versions):
- Port / Socks Port / Mixed Port: local listening ports — what you type into third-party apps ("Mixed Port explained");
- Allow LAN: let LAN devices use this machine's proxy ("Allow LAN sharing");
- Log Level: core verbosity — info for daily use, debug for hunting bugs;
- IPv6: whether the core handles IPv6. If your network's IPv6 is flaky, turning this off avoids a whole class of weirdness;
- Mode (Rule / Global / Direct): outbound mode ("Choosing an outbound mode");
- System Proxy: writes the system proxy settings — the single most important switch;
- TUN Mode: full traffic takeover via virtual NIC; requires Service Mode;
- Start with Windows / Silent Start: boot behavior;
- UWP Loopback: loopback exemption for Store apps;
- Random Port: pick a random port each launch — for chronic port conflicts.
A sensible daily combo: System Proxy on, Start with Windows + Silent Start on, TUN as needed, everything else default.
