Starting Clash with Windows, silently
To have the proxy ready every time you boot, enable two switches on the General page:
- Start with Windows: registers the app to launch at logon;
- Silent Start: skip the main window on launch and go straight to the tray, so you do not have to close a window after every boot.
Together with the remembered System Proxy state, this gives you boot-and-forget proxying.
When autostart stops working
- Disabled by security software or the system's startup manager — check Task Manager → Startup and make sure Clash for Windows is Enabled;
- Installed in a directory that requires admin rights, so UAC blocks the launch — install to a user directory or adjust the restriction;
- A portable copy was moved — autostart still points at the old path; toggle Start with Windows off and on to re-register.
If you use TUN mode, also install Service Mode so the core runs as a system service at boot and creating the TUN adapter no longer prompts for elevation.
